Club Car Gas Golf Carts

1958 - Incorporated in Houston, Texas, by Landreath Machine.
1962 - Purchased by Augusta, Ga., businessman William Stevens and moved to Augusta.
1978 - Purchased by an investment group and eight businessmen who worked for Augusta-based E-Z-GO.

Club Car Gas Golf Carts have evolved throughout the years. In the Early 80's they made there first quality 4 cycle Club Car Gas Golf Cart. They were the first 4 cycle cart in production. In the early 80's until 1991 they used a 9 hp 350cc engine.

In 1992 they came out with a 9 horse power 301 cc engine that had a lot less problems than the older style. The engine rotated backwards which was odd compared to all of the other golf carts.

In 1997 they came out with the same engine rotating the way all of the other engines rotate. The engine is made by kawasaki and has been very reliable as well as the yamaha engine. They used this engine all the way up till 2010 with minor changes throughout the years. The biggest issue with newer Gas Club Car Golf Carts is changing the governor or speed control on the units. Unlike the ezgo and yamaha which are easy to change the speed of the vehicle the club car has an internal governor and you can only change the throttle position which gives you some more speed but not as much as the other two brands. Club Car is an overall great gas golf cart brand.

In 2004 Club Car gas golf carts added to there brand by introducing the Club Car Precedent in both gas and electric vehicles. The Gas vehicle started out in production along side of the DS vehicle at 20% of the market. Today the Precdent is 80% of the production market.
